Power and efficiency in midi class by CASE

07.03.2025

Street pavement repairs and the building of underground infrastructure in cities where space is at a premium often requires street closures and traffic changes. The most suitable machines to eliminate these problems are compact excavators with rubber tracks and a working weight of 7 to 10 t (Midi class). Case CE, one of the world's leading manufacturers of crawler excavators, offers five models in this segment, among which CX85E and CX90E clearly stand out. The official representative of Case CE in Bulgaria is Titan Machinery Bulgaria.

Tight spaces in cities and towns are where the compact excavator is in its element. With the boom, arm and bucket stowed back, it can fully rotate its superstructure in a relatively small diameter. This type of machine excels not only in housing construction, but also in the efficient performance of infrastructure projects in only one lane of the street while the other remains open to vehicle traffic.

These two state-of-the-art models were developed by Case CE engineers to meet all the needs of construction companies in the 9-tonne class. The CX90E, with an operating weight of 9,210 kg, is the efficiency leader in tight-space digging and features left and right side boom turn. On the other hand, the boom of the CX85E (8830 kg) is mounted directly as on the large excavators to maximize digging speed, stability and visibility when there is a little more space on site. Both models are zero tail excavators.

These two machines feature advanced technology, notable among which is the Japanese Yanmar diesel engine, providing the excavators with the highest power in their class at 73 hp. Impressive is also the electro-hydraulic system software, EHpQ by Rexroth, which offers independent flow and pressure control, and therefore allows all possible technical parameters of the machine to be adjusted freely, depending on the selected operating mode or operator preference. The electronically controlled, variable flow hydraulic pump provides hydraulic power only where and when it is needed.

For maximum efficiency and low diesel consumption, three operating modes are available - Power, Standard and Economy, while electronic engine speed control with an auto-idle function helps further fuel savings.

The Case CX85E and CX90E are reliable and easy to service machines. Thanks to the ability to tilt the cab, all maintenance work is carried out conveniently and safely from the ground with direct unobstructed access to all service points. The hydraulically driven, reversible cooling fan (can be controlled from the in-cab screen) ensures optimum heat exchange and efficient radiator cleaning. The robust undercarriage is designed with five lower and one upper roller for maximum stability and comfort when travelling, as well as minimising the likelihood of the track coming off.

Excellent cabin comfort

The Case CX85E and CX90E feature a state-of-the-art cab that boasts modern ergonomic controls, automatic climate control and low noise and vibration levels. LED work lights, wide mirrors and a camera for the area behind the machine ensure excellent visibility. The on-board computer with multifunction display allows easy handling of hydraulic settings and operating modes, fault diagnostics, particulate filter (DPF) regeneration control and much more.

The design of the control joysticks offers high comfort and optimal positions of the buttons and electro-proportional roller switches. A third joystick is fitted, ensuring operations such as blade grading and backfilling are easily and quickly performed for maximum productivity.
