Kalin Mironov: Good results with corn can be achieved with modern equipment and the right hybrids!

The success of a farm is a combination of good management, precise choice of crops, modern technologies and agricultural equipment. We made sure of that when we visited the grain producer Kalin Mironov. He welcomed us in the village of Petokladentsi in the Pleven region, where his base and fields are located and where he grows mainly corn.

I`ve been dealing with farming for almost 20 years, and since 2007 it has become more serious, when I increased the hectares. Now I am cultivating about 560 ha of corn, sunflower and wheat, but I`m mainly focused on corn. In the past years, it has been one of most profitable crops in our country.

The good results in corn are achieved thanks to good embedded hybrids, good tillage and modern technologies. The grain producer told our team more about the agrotechnical fleet he is working with in the farm and emphasized that the right machines help a lot for the production optimization.  

The main equipment I`m cultivating the land with, is Case IH tractors with Vaderstad attachment. This combination leads to good tillage and therefore good yield. During the years, we have been optimizing our working processes with new machines and this is how we can cultivate faster and more economical, even with less staff.

Case IH Axial-Flow 6140 harvester, Magnum 380 Rowtrac tractor, two Case IH Maxxum tractors and a Case IH FarmLift 735 telescopic loader are the main machines in the farm of the grain producer. Why he chose exactly Maxxum and Magnum? 

I chose mainly those machines, because they are universal – I`m satisfied with their price and quality. The machines correspond to their power and especially the Maxxum tractors are used as all-round tractor –for heavy tillage, for sowing, and for spraying.

The Magnum is a higher class tractor. I use it mainly for heavier tillage. I`m also happy with the Rowtrac, because there is no such soil compaction, traction force is increased and there is fuel economy.

The machines on the farm are equipped with AFS navigation and GPS correction signal from the "AFS RTK +" network of Titan Machinery Bulgaria. The technology helps for better efficiency in all types of tillage - sowing, fertilizing, spraying crops and better profitability of production.

Kalin Mironov is also using a Case IH Farmlift 735 telescopic loader on his farm, which he is operating by himself, so he is sharing his impressions from working with the machine:

I`m using Case IH Farmlift 735 for loading and unloading activities. I`ve been using it for 2 years and the volume of the bucket of 3 cubic meters is quite enough for my farm. The loader itself, as a telescopic loader, is economical, with a 7-meter boom and is just very compact machine.
