Case IH Magnum AFS Connect series launched in advance in Bulgaria!

23.10.2020

For two weeks the Case IH Magnum 400 AFS Connect demo tractor – the latest model from the Magnum series – has been working in Bulgarian fields. This is the first Model 400 machine to set foot on European soil for a series of individual field demonstrations. The main and most significant change in the Case IH Magnum series lies behind the AFS Connect abbreviation, said Svilen Lozanov, Sales Manager Agricultural Machinery at Titan Machinery Bulgaria, during the demonstration conducted near the town of Kameno, Burgas District.

  • What exactly is AFS Connect?

AFS Connect allows remote access and data transfer to any Case IH machine branded with this logo.

Svilen Lozanov, Sales Manager Agricultural Machinery at Titan Machinery Bulgaria shared some details during the demonstration:

In practice, the farmer is enabled to monitor the machine remotely. In addition to monitoring data such as fuel consumption, operating parameters such as temperature, etc., it is now possible to perform remote control and diagnostics of the machine. It is also possible to update the various types of software used by the tractor.

    • What innovations and improvements will Case IH Magnum tractors feature next year?

In addition to some obvious changes such as the bonnet, which is borrowed from the autonomous Magnum tractor, there is this completely new cab. The wheeled 400 and the Rowtrac models feature a very efficient all-new 21-speed Full PowerShift transmission. The entire new Magnum series is compliant with the Stage V emissions standard.
A novelty is the tractor's fully programmable lighting, which ensures 360 degrees visibility around the machine for greater comfort when working at night.

      • What type of farms is the updated Case IH Magnum series suitable for?

The Magnum series is traditionally associated with the high power range, where it is used for heavy and basic tillage such as plowing, disking, sowing. The machine is largely suitable for sowing spring crops. The navigation system is fairly high level; it fully supports ISOBUS compatibility, i.e. performs seamless section control through the tractor terminal. Actually this machine would be useful at most farms.

The Case IH Magnum series is currently available in the range 280 to 396 hp rated power with options for Full PowerShift gearbox with 18, 19 and 21 speeds, as well as with the option of CVT gearbox.

Field tests of the Case IH Magnum 400 AFS Connect have shown:

During the demonstration conducted in Kameno the tractor works in combination with a cultivator Vaderstad TopDown – a familiar machine with Bulgarian farmers, which performs 4 operations in parallel – disking, subsoiling and mixing, leveling and rolling.

Over the last couple of weeks, however, the tractor has been tested in different parts of Bulgaria – under different conditions and with various implements.

Svilen Lozanov shared some detail about the testing performed and the results recorded:

We tested the machine with much larger equipment such as a 10-meter disc harrow, a 5-meter stubble cultivator and it delivered! We compared the tractor with in-class competitors to get an idea of the machine performance level. And I dare say this machine is one of the leaders in its class.
