Bulgarian farmers share their experience with Case IH Magnum

The Case IH brand has become synonymous with technology for professional grain producers in Bulgaria, and the iconic Magnum series of tractors is one proof of that. In order to get familiar in detail with the advantages of the tractors and their operation in a real working environment in the field, we visited three farms, and their owners and technical experts shared their experience of working with Case IH Magnum tractors.

• A tractor for heavy loads and cultivation

Case IH Magnum is a versatile tractor for heavy and long agro-technical operations in grain production and at the same time with impressive fuel economy.

Each machine is situated according to the inventory we have. In the case of Case IH Magnum – it can operate in almost any situation – starting with soil tillage, seeding, cultivation. The machine is universal, and   it runs more than 1000 hours per year.

Magnum 340 is a very good machine that can always be relied on. It handles quite heavy equipment and is a very good tractor for heavy work. As a fuel consumption it is very economical compared to other machines. As a comfort in the cab, it is very well made - the operator has nothing to complain about.

We use Magnum mainly for heavy tillage – as subsoiling, with stubble cultivator, for deep plowing, as well as for cultivation and disking.

• Power and traction

There are many brands in the market for farming equipment that offer tractors with high power. The advantage of Case IH Magnum, however, that farmers see, is related to the power - traction ratio:

Apart from looking good, this machine is a good combination of power and traction. And I think more and more attention is being paid to that fact. We usually work with power, but in agriculture traction is more important. This tractor has exactly the things that excite us, it can operate with the equipment we have and has more than 15% power. I would say that Magnum is not a good machine - it is a great machine!

One of the advantages we see in heavy tillage is the traction power of the Magnum tractor. Other tractors, which must perform the same activity at rated power, give up during field work. It's the same when we compare real fuel economy results - Case IH Magnum are the leaders again.

• Why did we choose Case IH Magnum?

The Case IH Magnum 340 has been operating now for three years in the farm of SKS Rakovski. After a preliminary research of the chief mechanic, the choice of tractor has been consistent with its power capacities, robustness and reliable servicing.

We chose the Case IH brand because Titan Machinery offer a whole concept for agriculture – we started with Magnum 340, configured with Vaderstad TopDown for pre-sowing and some heavier tillage. Then we bought Puma 240 with automatic gearbox configured with Vaderstad Tempo F – one of the best planters right now. Last year we purchased Case IH Axial-Flow 6140, configured with vario header 7,60m. We also got convinced in its qualities and we are very satisfied!

More than 20 years the Bio Elit Energy farm has been operating with Case IH Magnum tractors and over time they have been convinced of their efficiency and productivity. This Magnum tractor has about 6,000 operating hours, and during all this time we have been convinced that the total maintenance costs, including its purchase price, are actually quite low, especially when compared to the prices of other competing brands. This is one of the reasons we keep working with Case IH, as not only the cost of purchasing but also the maintenance of the machine must be calculated. Over the years, we have become convinced that Case IH continues to be a very solid brand that invests and improves every model.
